Important notice regarding North West Area Age Banded Championships
As many of you will be aware, the U20 British Trials was cancelled earlier this year. As a result, the NWA Age Banded Championships has been classed an identification event.
The entry for this event has been heavily oversubscribed and so alterations to the format have been approved.
Taking into account the length of the day for players and volunteer officials assisting at this event it has been agreeed by the BJA Performance Staff, Technical Commission and Refereeing Commission that the fights will now be 3 minutes in duration - not the normal 4 minutes.
This will reduce the length of the day though a finish time of approximately 19:30 is still anticipated.
Considering the high number of entries, the weigh-in times are as follows:
Section C 08:15 -> 09:00
Section D 12:00 -> 13:00
This will hopefully easy some of the pressure of number of individuals at the venue and waiting time for players.

01 January 2010: Firstly, Happy New Year. Unfortunately, with a new year comes new rules and, as widely suspected, the IJF have introduced new rules which come into effect from today. New rules here. In addition, the IJF have released 60 YouTube videos to further demonstrate the changes. These can be found here.

05 August 2009: Three men from the North West Area will be representing Great Britain at the forthcoming World Championships in Rotterdam later this month. Good luck to Matthew Clempner (+100), Peter Lomax (-100 reserve) and Andy Burns (-90 reserve)

23 June 2009: Congratulations to Burnley Judo Club who have just been awarded the Sport England Club Mark Bronze award.
22 June 2009: The last chance to impress the Area Squad Coach's for selection for this years National Team Championships will be Wirral Judo Club on 11 July 2009.
